TVSummary guide: The Amazing Race 10: Episode 11 Recap 11/26/06

Kmanpat writes, "Welcome to Leg 10! Last time on The Amazing Race: Chernobyl Is Where They Dropped The Bomb, Apparently: five teams jumped off a building to continue racing on their way to the Ukraine.  The Himbos and the BQs continue to lead the pack, while Lyn and Karlyn FINALLY break away from the Chos.  And because of this, the Chos are eliminated.  Because Bama is smart.  Four teams remain.  Who will be eliminated . . . tonight?

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:
1^st – Tyler/James, the Himbos, arrive at 7:33 PM
2^nd – Dustin/Kandice, Team America, arrive at 7:41 PM
3^rd – Rob/Kimberly, Team Chozo, arrive at 8:19 PM
4^th – Lyn/Karlyn, Team Bama, arrive at 9:08 PM

Great Patriotic War Museum, Kiev, Ukraine

7:33 AM Tyler/James (1^st)
Clue: Fly 3000 miles to Ouarzazate, Morocco.  Once there, choose a marked car and drive yourselves 4 miles to the Antiquites du Sud Antique Shop.  Then, choose a medallion which could bring good luck at the Pit Stop in order to get your next clue.  You have $0 for this leg of the race.

The Himbos want the BQs out, as do most teams, as they are the biggest threat at the moment.

7:41 AM Dustin/Kandice (2^nd)

8:19 AM Rob/Kimberly (3^rd)

9:08 AM Lyn/Karlyn (4^th) – Karlyn: “What language do they speak in Morocco?”  Lyn: “Moroccan.”  Hee.

Teams drive themselves to the airport and arrive in the following order:

1-Dustin/Kandice
2-Tyler/James
3-Rob/Kimberly   

4-Lyn/Karlyn 

Now, things get interesting.  Here’s how the flights shake down.

First Flight Pattern

Dustin/Kandice – take a Ukraine International Flight from Kiev to Milan to Casablanca to  catch the 10:55 pm flight to Ouarzazate.  However, the BQs miss their tight connection in Milan

Second Flight Pattern

1-Tyler/James
2-Rob/Kimberly

These two teams get on an Air France flight to Paris and then on to Casablanca at 4:35 pm in order to make the 10:55 PM Ouarzazate flight.  Coincidently, they arrive first in Casablanca.

Third Flight

Lyn/Karlyn  - the Bama girls are also on the Air France flight, but take a later connection to Casablanca, giving them time to study the Morocco map they purchased.

All teams get on the 10:55 PM flight to Ouarzazate.  The BQs actauly get on the flight first, to the shock of all the other teams.  Teams then arrive and find their cars in the following order:

1-Dustin/Kandice – who get mobbed while asking for directions.
2-Tyler/James
3-Rob/Kimberly  

4-Lyn/Karlyn

Teams arrive at Antiquites du Sud in the following order:

1-Lyn/Karlyn – what the ?!?!?!
2-Rob/Kimberly

3-Tyler/James

4-Dustin/Kandice

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves 6 miles to Atlas Film Studios, where movies like Cleopatra and Gladiator were filmed.  However, the studio doesn’t open until 8 am.

Teams arrive at Atlas Studios in the following order:

1-Lyn/Karlyn
2-Rob/Kimberly

3-Tyler/James – “Bama beat us?!?!?”

4-Dustin/Kandice – “Opens at 8 am. . . so is it closed?”

CAUTION: YIELD AHEAD

This is the first Yield of the race. Teams may choose to yield any team they wish (well, the team has to be behind them), but they may only use the Yield once during the race. If a team is yielded, they must turn over the hourglass and wait for a predetermined amount of time.

When the gates open at 8 am, teams make a mad dash for the Yield.  Teams arrive at the Yield and then get their next clue in the following order:

1-Tyler/James choose to Yield no one – which is silly if you want to get rid of someone.

2-Rob/Kimberly choose to Yield no one
3-Dustin/Kandice choose to Yield Lyn/Karlyn – WHY?  They aren’t stronger than you!

4-Lyn/Karlyn are Yielded

So, Lyn and Karlyn watch.  Karlyn flips of the BQs.  Lyn: “Don’t do that.  That’s ugly.”  Karlyn: “Sorry.”  Well, that just goes to show that I really like Lyn.  And teams encounter the Roadblock.

ROADBLOCK:
Who wants to be a gladiator?
In this roadblock, one team member must be a gladiator and don gladiator clothing.  They then join a professional charioteer and race around a track while pulling down two flags matching the color of their horses’ plume.  Once completed, teams will get their next clue.

The following team members decide to do the Roadblock.

1- James (blue) – who misses his first flag.  Pleh.
2- Rob (red)
3- Dustin (purple)

4- Karlyn (green)

Teams finish the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Rob/Kimberly
2- Dustin/Kandice

3- Tyler/James

4- Lyn/Karlyn

Teams are then instructed to drive themselves 22 miles to the town of Idelssan and find the Café Pirgola for their next clue.

Teams arrive at the Café Pirgola in the following order:

1- Tyler/James
2- Dustin/Kandice

3- Lyn/Karlyn

4- Rob/Kimberly – who get ANOTHER flat tire.  Poor car karma.

And teams rip open the Detour.

DETOUR:
Throw It OR Grind It
*Throw It: Teams drive selves 4 miles to the town of Ghidera and find a pottery shop to throw two clay pots properly.  Once they are made, an artisan will check them and give them the next clue.  There are only three pottery wheels, so teams may have to wait their turn.
*Grind It: Teams drive selves 4 miles back towards Ouarzazate to the North African Horse Ranch and Olive Mill.  Once there, teams choose a mill and grind 77 pounds of Olives and stuff them in bags to get their next clue.  There are only three mills, so teams may have to wait their turn.

Teams travel to the Detour and arrive in the following order:

1- Tyler/James choose Grind It
2- Lyn/Karlyn choose Grind It

3- Rob/Kimberly choose Grind It

4- Dustin/Kandice choose Grind It – and don’t bald snark even though they are the last team to arrive.  Ooh, bad move.

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Tyler/James
2- Lyn/Karlyn

3- Rob/Kimberly

4- Dustin/Kandice

Teams must now drive themselves 25 miles along the Road to Marrakech to find a marked boulder in the side of the road, marking the site of Berber Nomadic Camp, the tenth PIT STOP in a racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive may be eliminated!

1-Tyler/James – who are in first, AND have the right medallion to win a pair of Sprint Trio 700 P phones and a year of service for each of them.  After they forgot it in the car and almost got beat to the Pit stop by. . .

2-Lyn/Karlyn – where did THEY come from?
3-Rob/Kimberly

4-Dustin/Kandice

Dustin and Kandice are the last team to arrive at the third non-elimination Pit Stop.  They are marked and must come in first in the next leg or suffer a 30 minute penalty before check in.  Oh well.  They were fun while they lasted.

ORDER NOW:
1^st – Tyler/James
2^nd – Lyn/Karlyn
3^rd – Rob/Kimberly
4^th – Dustin/Kandice

Next week: It’s a race for the final three!  Lyn snarks at Karlyn.  It’s about time.  We have an eating roadblock.  And people are pelting Rob and Kim with tomatoes.  It’s about time!  Until then. . .
