TVSummary guide: Nashville Star Finale: 8/4/08
MsScarlett writes, " Nashville Star Finale!! We are down to three hopefuls…Melissa Lawsen, Gabe Garcia, and Shawn Mayer. But, the important thing is—BILLY RAY is singing! AND, he is singing “Achy Breaky Heart,” no less. The finalists are helping a bit, but this is still a moment I have waited for all season. I heart Billy Ray. I loved him back in his full-blown mullet glory days, and I love him now. And he has some talented kids—not only Miley, but you know, I can’t get Metro Station’s (Trace Cyrus) “Shake It” out of my head. That is a catchy tune. Anyway, on with the show!
Gabe sings the song “Celebrity.” Jewel says she has truly enjoyed working with him. Melissa sings “My Wish.” John wants to know how she will feel if she wins and that she is a superstar. Shawn sings “Gun Powder and Lead.” Jeffrey says she has grown over the last few weeks.
The first player who is eliminated tonight is Shawn Mayer. That’s a little disappointing, but I think Shawn has enough talent to make something of herself. Now, Gabe and Melissa will sing together—“The Time of My Life.” I have hard time hearing this song without seeing Patrick Swayze. (“Nobody puts Baby in a corner!) Nonetheless, they sound good together. A couple more performances by each and a montage or two later, a few gushes from the judges, and we are ready to declare a winner. Aaaaaaaaannnnnnndddddd…….the winner is…………the new Nashville Star is…………..Melissa Lawsen. Congratulations, Melissa, we know you will go far. And congratulations, also to Gabe Garcia for being in the top two. Well, folks, it has been a short season, but we have enjoyed sharing it with you. We hope to see you next season!
